Consultant/Senior Consultant – Green shipping

The Environmental Advisory section in DNV Maritime supports our customers in optimizing their decisions on environmental technology, low- and zero-emission fuels, and greenhouse gas (GHG) and environmental policy and strategy. With more than 20 years of service deliveries dedicated to ship emissions and abatement strategies, our interdisciplinary teams have expertise both down to the details and along the bigger lines.

The shipping industry is now entering an era of profound change driven by the global energy situation and the industry’s need to decarbonize, as well as increasing pressure to reduce the industry’s environmental impact. Our section is uniquely positioned to provide trusted knowledge and advice as a basis for investment decisions and the development of government policy and regulations. Working at the intersection of technology, economics, and policy our competence is highly sought for both in industry and in the public sector. Our section is responsible for industry-leading projects including the Green Shipping Program, The Nordic roadmap project for future fuels, the Alternative Fuels Insight platform, and the annual DNV Maritime Forecast to 2050 which provides an outlook on global shipping energy use, GHG emissions, and the uptake of technologies and future fuels.

Due to high demand for our services, we're hiring. We seek Consultants and experienced Senior Consultants to join our team.

The right candidates will contribute to:

  • Leading and participating in complex technology and policy projects, delivering high-quality reports and digital solutions
  • Assessments related to a broad range of environmental issues such as GHG and other emissions to air, biofouling, ship recycling, lifecycle assessment (LCA) of fuels, and ESG considerations
  • Feasibility studies of low- and zero-emission solutions, including batteries, fuel cells, hydrogen, ammonia, methanol, biofuels, nuclear and other emission reducing technologies
  • Developing strategies and approaches for implementing GHG emission abatement solutions on behalf of maritime clients, authorities, and public administrations
  • Assessment of barriers and drivers for energy transition and technology uptake, including regulatory development, cost of emissions, economics and financing, and market drivers
  • Marketing, sales, and business development related to the above

We are looking for colleagues with:

  • MSc. or Ph.D. within marine technology, industrial economy, renewable energy, statistics, natural and environmental sciences, or other relevant fields
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to process and structure information, including report writing
  • Understanding of the maritime sector and environmental topics, emission reducing technologies, and regulations and key decarbonization drivers
  • Excellent Norwegian and English language skills
  • For the Senior Consultant position: 5-10 years of experience within relevant fields, including as project manager
