Joining our trainee programme, you will receive extensive training in all our business areas, and will have the opportunity to work in a number of departments covering various areas of responsibility. The main areas relevant for the trainee program are:

• Underwriting – our underwriters assess requests for insurance cover from Members and clients, assess the levels of risk involved and negotiate appropriate prices, terms and conditions.
• Analytics, Finance and risk management – these teams provide vital support to the management of the group and its individual businesses, including overseeing its ongoing financial strength.
• Claims – issuing an insurance policy is a promise to pay if a ship is involved in an accident. Our claims people assess and handle all claims, focusing on getting issues resolved efficiently so that our clients can get their businesses back on track as quickly as possible.

The trainee program starts 1st. of September 2023 and you will be offered a permanent position with Gard.

What makes you great?

• We are looking for students graduating with a master’s degree in 2023 or recent years, preferably in a relevant subject such as law, business administration, finance, analytics and statistics
• You have a keen interest in the maritime and energy sectors
• Also you excel by having an international mind-set and you value different perspectives and ideas from your colleagues while you enjoy working in diverse teams with different sets of backgrounds
• You have good command of both written and spoken English
• You possess effective communication skills and outstanding self-motivation, combined with an appetite for challenges
